What is a notary?
A notary is a public official who serves as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents.
When will I ever need a notary?
Almost everyone will need a notary at multiple points in their lives. When a minor is traveling across state lines without their parents/guardians they typically need a letter approving of this travel by the guardian(s). If your car gets towed and you are unable to pick it up your friend may need a release form notarized to get your car. Selling a car for a family member? Most dealerships will require a Power of Attorney to act on their behalf.

A valid ID
What forms of ID are accepted?
Can be expired up to 3 years before date of notarization
Driver License or ID card from any state
Driver Instructional Permit
Provisional or Limited Term Driver License
Nonexpired, Temporary Driver License or ID card
U.S. or Foreign (recognized) passport - Book or Card
U.S. Military ID cards
ID from a federally recognized Indian Tribe
U.S government issued ID (any) with both picture and signature
